Kurono Tokyo Sensu

The Kurono Tokyo Jubilee Sensu EOL “白藍” (Shiraai), ref. CP25BB, is a striking example of Japanese independent watchmaking from Hajime Asaoka and Kurono Tokyo. Created as Kurono’s 2025 anniversary timepiece, the watch combines traditional Japanese aesthetics with an unusually sophisticated dial design, resulting in a piece that feels both artisanal and distinctly contemporary.

At the center is the beautiful “Shiraai” white-indigo dial, inspired by the palest tones of traditional Japanese indigo dyeing. Its metallic surface comes alive under changing light, shifting between soft blue and subtle bluish-green hues. The dial is elaborately finished with multiple guilloché patterns, including a chrysanthemum-like wave pattern radiating from the center, a railway-track minute chapter, and the signature Sensu-inspired folding-fan motif surrounding the power-reserve indicator. Hand-painted Kanji hour markers add another distinctly Japanese touch.

The watch is powered by a discontinued Cal. 9133PWT automatic movement, specially modified by Hajime Asaoka to remove the calendar mechanism and preserve the purity of the dial. The result is a particularly unusual power-reserve configuration, with the fan-shaped indicator providing an elegant visual representation of the remaining energy. The 38mm polished 316L stainless steel case, box-shaped sapphire crystal, and 5 ATM water resistance make the watch both refined and highly wearable.

With its limited production, discontinued movement, highly intricate guilloché dial, and direct connection to Hajime Asaoka's design philosophy, the Jubilee Sensu EOL represents one of Kurono Tokyo's more distinctive recent releases.
